Unai Emery has named Paris Saint-Germain as the world’s best football team. The Aston Villa manager gave his opinion before the Champions League final against Arsenal.
Emery knows both clubs well. He coached PSG from 2016 to 2018. He then managed Arsenal from 2018 to 2019. Now he watches the final as a neutral supporter.
The Spanish boss believes PSG are the favourites. They are the current European champions. The final takes place in Budapest on Saturday night.
“Today, they are the best club in the world,” Emery told French newspaper L’Équipe. He praised PSG manager Luis Enrique. “He has completely transformed the team. It is always incredible to watch them play.”
Emery also spoke about Arsenal. He praised his fellow countryman Mikel Arteta. He said Arsenal have improved every year. He noted that fighting for the Premier League and Champions League at the same time is very difficult.
“The Premier League is the most difficult league in the world,” Emery said. “Winning the league title and reaching the Champions League final is really good.”
Emery will manage in the Champions League next season. Aston Villa qualified for the competition after a strong year in England.
