Giuseppe Marotta has revealed the truth behind his shock exit from Juventus. The current Inter Milan president insists the split was not about Cristiano Ronaldo. Instead, he explains that Andrea Agnelli wanted to change the club’s leadership structure.

Marotta worked at Juventus as director general from 2010 until October 2018. The club dismissed him after eight years. However, Inter Milan called him within 24 hours. He now serves as their president after earlier working as CEO.

Many fans believed Marotta opposed the signing of Ronaldo in 2018. The forward joined the Turin side due to Agnelli and Fabio Paratici. Marotta rejects this story. He says he left with sadness but knew new opportunities would come.

At Inter, Marotta made bold decisions about managers. He replaced Luciano Spalletti with Antonio Conte. He praises Conte for his motivation and intuition. The coach knows when to shout at players during tough moments.

In 2021, Marotta met Max Allegri before choosing Inzaghi. Allegri had rejected Real Madrid that summer. Their ideas did not match. Therefore, Marotta hired Inzaghi instead.

Inzaghi left Inter hours after losing the Champions League final 5-0 to Paris Saint-Germain. He joined Al-Hilal immediately. The club appointed Cristian Chivu as his replacement.

Chivu had only managed Parma for a few months. However, Marotta took the risk. He points to Chivu’s history with Inter’s Treble-winning team and his captaincy at Ajax. The decision proved correct. Chivu won both the Serie A title and Coppa Italia.
