- Olympique Lyonnais want to sign striker Jonathan David from Juventus
- The Canadian international scored just eight goals in 46 matches this season
- Juventus must sell players after failing to qualify for the Champions League
- David hopes to regain form before the World Cup starts this summer
Jonathan David may leave Juventus after only one season. The Canadian centre-forward joined the Italian club last summer from Lille OSC. He arrived as a free agent, but Juventus paid €12.5 million to his representatives.
The move has not been successful. David scored eight goals and made five assists in 46 games across all competitions. He missed many easy chances on the pitch and failed to impress the coaches.
Juventus finished outside the top four in Serie A. They will not play in the Champions League next season. The club needs to balance their finances by selling players.
Olympique Lyonnais are interested in bringing David back to Ligue 1. The French club already tried to sign him in January and March. They believe the striker can recover his best form in France.
David wants to play regular football before the World Cup. A return to Ligue 1 would give him the chance to rebuild his confidence. Lyon hope to make an official offer soon.
