  • Contractual complications with Bologna are delaying Italiano’s move to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona

Supporters of Napoli have expressed fierce opposition to the possibility of Max Allegri taking charge at the club. The discontent comes as the Serie A giants held fresh discussions with the former Juventus coach on Thursday.

The Partenopei find themselves without a manager following Antonio Conte’s surprise decision to step down. The experienced tactician walked away with twelve months remaining on his three-year agreement, despite capturing the Scudetto during his opening campaign and adding the Supercoppa Italiana trophy.

Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis has reportedly focused his attention on just two potential replacements. However, the fanbase has made clear their preference for Vincenzo Italiano over Allegri.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Italiano appeared to be the leading candidate until obstacles emerged regarding his contractual situation with Bologna. The coach currently works at the Stadio Dall’Ara, and securing his release has proven complicated.

Because of these delays, Napoli reopened negotiations with Allegri while awaiting Italiano’s planned meeting with Bologna officials on Thursday. This development has triggered an angry response from the faithful, with several online petitions circulating to demand the board rejects Allegri’s candidacy for the dugout.

Interest in Allegri is not new to the Naples outfit. The club approached him last summer as a backup option should Conte depart after just one season. When Conte ultimately decided to continue, Allegri accepted the AC Milan role instead.
