Liverpool Football Club have started their search for a new manager following the sudden sacking of Arne Slot. The Reds have reportedly placed VfB Stuttgart boss Sebastian Hoeneß on their shortlist of potential replacements.

Sources at The Athletic suggest that the Merseyside club could hold talks with the 44-year-old German in the coming days. Hoeneß has enjoyed a remarkable spell with Stuttgart since taking charge in 2023, winning the DFB-Pokal and guiding the team to the Champions League for two consecutive seasons.

Despite this interest, Andoni Iraola remains the clear favourite for the Anfield post. The Spanish coach is set to depart AFC Bournemouth after three successful years on the south coast.

If Iraola accepts the Liverpool job, it would deal a major blow to Bayer Leverkusen. Sky Germany reported earlier this week that the Bundesliga side were already in direct negotiations with the 41-year-old.

RC Lens head coach Pierre Sage is also understood to be an outside option for the vacancy, though his chances appear slim compared to the main candidates.
