Inter Milan have identified Oumar Solet as their primary defensive target for the upcoming transfer window. The Italian giants are prepared to pay €25 million to secure the Udinese centre-back’s signature this summer.
The Nerazzurri have monitored the French defender for several months. Their interest began shortly after Solet joined Udinese without a transfer fee in January 2025. Since then, the 24-year-old has developed into one of Serie A’s most consistent performers. He has featured in 38 league matches this campaign, scoring three times and providing one assist.
Sources indicate that Inter have already reached an agreement with the player over personal terms. The proposed contract would keep Solet at the San Siro until June 2031. However, the clubs still need to finalise the transfer structure. One option involves an initial loan move with an obligation to make the deal permanent at the season’s end. This approach would allow Inter to manage their spending across different financial years.
A major barrier to the transfer disappeared recently. In May 2025, authorities launched an investigation after a woman accused Solet of sexual assault following a party at his home in Udine. The case created uncertainty around the defender’s future. Last week, however, officials announced they had shelved the probe. This decision has cleared the path for Inter to proceed with their €25 million bid.
Solet’s versatility makes him particularly attractive to manager Simone Inzaghi. The former Lyon youth product can operate effectively at centre-back, right-back, or as part of a back three. This flexibility addresses multiple needs within Inter’s defensive unit.
