German media outlet Sky Germany reports that Hamburger SV have given up hope of keeping Luka Vušković. The club will not enter talks with Tottenham Hotspur over an extended loan deal.
Journalist Florian Plettenberg states that no negotiations are taking place between the 2. Bundesliga side and the Premier League club. The player himself has backed this up. He told reporters that a return to the German outfit looks “impossible”.
This update ends HSV’s dream of keeping the defender for another campaign. The club had hoped to secure his services for at least one more year.
The young Croatian now has two clear choices. He can stay in North London and sign a new contract with a high salary at Tottenham. Alternatively, he could seek a transfer to one of Europe’s elite clubs. Both FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich are monitoring the situation closely.
The news comes just days after Vušković earned a major honour. On 30 May, he collected the Player of the Season award from Hamburger SV fans and writers.
