Former AC Milan sporting director Igli Tare is facing serious legal troubles in his home country. Albanian authorities have placed the 52-year-old under investigation for suspected money laundering and corruption offences.
The country’s Special Anti-Corruption and Organised Crime Prosecution Office (SPAK) is leading the probe. Investigators believe Tare may have links to an ongoing case involving Belinda Balluku, the former Albanian deputy prime minister. Balluku stands accused of breaking public procurement laws.
This news arrives shortly after Tare lost his job at the Italian club. AC Milan dismissed him just ten days ago alongside head coach Massimiliano Allegri and other senior officials. The club’s owner, Gerry Cardinale, ordered a complete restructuring of the leadership team following a disappointing season.
The Rossoneri failed to secure a place in the Champions League next term. The club described the campaign as a clear failure in an official statement. Tare has not made any public comments regarding the allegations in Albania.
