French coach Alexandre Dujeux looks set to become the new manager of FC Lorient. The 43-year-old left his post at Angers SCO earlier this week. He now stands as the top choice to fill the vacancy left by Olivier Pantaloni.

Pantaloni departed the Brittany-based club at the end of the recent Ligue 1 season. His surprise exit forced the club’s board to search for a new boss. They initially targeted Will Still, but the Anglo-Belgian coach has agreed to join AJ Auxerre instead.

Dujeux built a strong reputation during his time at Angers. He guided Le SCO to promotion from Ligue 2 in his first full campaign. He then kept the modest club in the top division for two consecutive years. The coach actually requested to leave Angers, the club confirmed this week.

The former defender also features on the shortlist at OGC Nice. However, Lorient appear ready to move quickly to secure his services. The club hopes Dujeux can repeat his success of keeping teams competitive with limited financial resources.
