Gor Mahia forward Shariff Musa has paid a moving tribute to his father, Musa Sirengo, on Father’s Day. The newly-crowned Football Kenya Federation Premier League champion says his dad made him the man he is today.

Musa credits his father for teaching him resilience both on and off the pitch. He says his old man never gave up despite life’s challenges.

“I want to thank Allah for this amazing human being,” Musa wrote. “Our fathers need love too. Through hard work and resilience, this man shaped my character. No matter how hard life knocked him down, he always got up and gave us the best life possible.”

The former Kariobangi Sharks player recalls his father’s sacrifices during his childhood. Musa Sirengo worked as a school bus driver across Kenya and East Africa. He spent long hours fixing broken buses and changing tyres in the rain. He endured cold nights away from home.

Despite these hardships, he never missed his son’s matches. He watched games on dusty pitches in Chesamisi, local tournaments, and school competitions. He skipped his own lunch to save money for football boots.

“He made sure we never lacked,” Musa said. “He was just a high school driver, but he supported me everywhere. He made sure I had boots even when money was tight.”

Musa promised that winning the FKF Premier League is only the beginning. He wants to repay his father’s dedication with more success.

“Musa Snr, I don’t know what tomorrow holds,” he said. “But I will make you proud and happy. So help me God.”

The striker shared these words two weeks after his father joined him for the title celebrations at Nyayo Stadium.
