England’s national team has ended their warm-up camp in West Palm Beach. The Three Lions will now travel to Kansas City on Saturday after spending two days with family and friends.

The squad spent 12 days in Florida to prepare for the World Cup. They played friendly matches in Tampa and Orlando. The final game brought a 3-0 win against Costa Rica. They also held a private training match against Miami FC.

The location was chosen for its extreme heat and humidity. Sports scientists wanted the players to get used to tough conditions quickly. At first, the weather was cooler than expected with heavy rain. However, temperatures later rose above 30 degrees Celsius for the matches.

The delay during the Costa Rica game helped the team. Lightning and flooding stopped play for one hour. Midfielder Declan Rice said this taught them how to handle similar problems during the tournament.

Most players stayed fit during the camp. Captain Harry Kane and midfielder Jude Bellingham looked fresh and energetic. This was good news after their fitness struggles at the last Euros.

Two Arsenal players arrived one week late. Saka and Rice joined the squad on Saturday. Manager Thomas Tuchel revealed both carried injuries at the end of the club season. They need careful management. Saka cannot yet play a full 90 minutes. Rice stated he felt fine after the Costa Rica match.

There was a tight contest for the attacking midfield role. Ten days ago, Morgan Rogers seemed ahead of Bellingham. Rogers started all eight qualifying matches. Bellingham started only four.

But in the two Florida friendlies, Bellingham performed better. Tuchel praised the Real Madrid star for his hard work without the ball. Bellingham also wore the captain’s armband in both matches. Now it looks likely Bellingham will start, though both players will get minutes.

Kane remains the main goal threat. He has scored 79 times for England. The rest of the squad together have scored 67. Tuchel is not worried about this imbalance. He has told players they are either starters, specialists, or finishers. Ivan Toney accepts his role as a “finisher” who comes from the bench.

Winger Anthony Gordon impressed most in Orlando. He scored from the penalty spot and created a goal for Rice. His direct running gives England a different option. He may now be ahead of Marcus Rashford for the left wing spot.

Defender John Stones showed his quality on the ball. He played 45 minutes in Tampa and 63 in Orlando. It now seems he will start alongside Marc Guehi in the centre of defence.

Noni Madueke missed a clear chance against Costa Rica but played well otherwise. He may get more opportunities because Saka is not fully fit.

Tuchel has kept a very relaxed mood in his first tournament as England boss. He has mixed hard training sessions with leisure time. Players enjoyed golf, trips to the beach, and watching Love Island together. The real work begins when they reach Kansas City this weekend.
