Sassuolo have reached a basic agreement with Hellas Verona to sign Scotland international striker Kieron Bowie. The proposed transfer is structured as a loan with an option to buy set at €10 million, which could convert to an obligation should specific conditions be met. Previous reports had indicated Verona were seeking €9–10 million plus additional bonuses for the forward.
As part of the arrangement, Sassuolo forward Samuele Mulattieri will move to Verona on loan. The 25-year-old former Inter Milan youth product joined Sassuolo in 2023 for €5.3 million and spent last season on loan at Spanish Segunda División side Deportivo La Coruña. Verona view him as a suitable replacement up front as they prepare for life in Serie B.
Bowie’s Verona spell and suitors
The deal ensures Bowie remains in Serie A following Verona’s relegation. The striker joined the Veneto club from Hibernian in January 2026 for €6 million, registering four goals and one assist in 14 league appearances during the second half of last season. Although he made a swift impression, he could not prevent the club’s demotion, prompting the forward to seek a move to continue playing top-flight football.
Bowie’s performances attracted significant interest after Verona’s drop. Cagliari, Bologna and Scottish champions Celtic were all linked with the Scotland international, who has earned two senior caps and was eager to remain in Italy’s top division. Reports differ regarding Bowie’s exact age, with some sources stating he is 22 while others note he turns 24 in September.

The clubs held a decisive meeting on Tuesday to finalise the remaining details of the double loan switch. With the framework now agreed, the transfers are expected to be completed imminently. Should Sassuolo exercise the purchase option, Verona would secure a substantial profit on the €6 million fee they paid to Hibernian just six months ago.
