Paris Saint-Germain have opened negotiations with Parma regarding the potential acquisition of Zion Suzuki, intensifying competition with Juventus for the highly-rated Japan international.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper, who was born in Newark, New Jersey, has emerged as a strategic target for the reigning European champions. PSG view the shot-stopper as a long-term investment, though they are unable to guarantee him an immediate starting role. This complication could prove decisive as the transfer window progresses.
The lack of guaranteed playing time in Paris has created a significant opening for Juventus, who remain determined to secure Suzuki’s signature. The Bianconeri are actively seeking a new first-choice goalkeeper following their failure to land Emiliano Martínez from Aston Villa. Unlike their French rivals, Juventus can offer Suzuki the prospect of establishing himself as the undisputed starter in Turin from the outset of the season.
Financially, any deal will require substantial investment. Parma value their custodian at approximately €35 million, a figure reflecting both his potential and his contractual security.
