Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk has publicly confirmed his club’s interest in signing Eintracht Frankfurt attacking midfielder Can Uzun, acknowledging that any deal depends on finding common ground with the German club.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Buruk identified the 20-year-old Turkey international as a priority target. “I believe it’s obvious,” Buruk said, describing Uzun as “a very interesting player” and noting that “he’s also a Turkish player.” The coach added that “should the conditions for all sides arise,” the club could “imagine the transfer very well,” provided that “it has to make sense and happen with mutual respect.”
Financial standoff
A significant valuation gap currently blocks progress. Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly demanding €60 million for the midfielder, who is contracted to the Bundesliga side until 2029. Galatasaray, by contrast, are preparing a bid of approximately €40 million according to Fussballdaten.
The disparity leaves both parties at an impasse. Frankfurt’s negotiating position is strengthened by Uzun’s long-term deal, which runs for another four years, meaning the German club face no immediate pressure to accept a reduced fee.
Italian competition
Galatasaray are not alone in pursuing the former Nürnberg prospect. Serie A trio Roma, Napoli and AC Milan have all expressed interest in securing Uzun’s signature this summer. This multi-club attention suggests Frankfurt could yet spark a bidding contest if they signal openness to a sale, potentially driving the price beyond Galatasaray’s current ceiling.
Player background
Uzun has developed into one of the Bundesliga’s emerging talents since joining Frankfurt from Nürnberg alongside Nathaniel Brown, who subsequently completed his transfer to Bayern Munich last month. The Regensburg-born attacker has scored 12 goals in the German top flight and recently represented Turkey at the World Cup.
His combination of technical skill and goal threat has drawn scouts from across Europe. While Galatasaray hope their Turkish heritage and Buruk’s public admiration will appeal to the player personally, convincing Frankfurt to lower their demands remains the immediate challenge.
