AC Milan defender David Odogu is reportedly poised to join Toulouse FC on loan as the 20-year-old seeks regular first-team football. The arrangement would see the Italian club continue to cover his wages during the temporary spell in Ligue 1.

Limited action in Milan

Odogu arrived at the San Siro last summer from VfL Wolfsburg for a fee of €7 million. Despite being a regular member of the senior squad throughout the 2025-26 campaign, the Berlin-born defender managed just 16 minutes of playing time spread across three substitute appearances.

The player had previously progressed through the academy at Wolfsburg, making only three professional appearances for the German club before his transfer to Italy. Regarded as a prospect with significant potential, Odogu is now seeking opportunities to establish himself at senior level.

RedBird connection

The potential transfer carries particular significance as it would represent the first player movement between the two clubs since both came under the ownership of RedBird. The American investment firm controls both AC Milan and the French side, facilitating this internal arrangement.

Challenge for starting role

At Toulouse, Odogu is expected to serve as direct competition for Rasmus Nicolaisen. The 29-year-old Danish international, who captains Les Violets, remains a crucial figure having started 33 of his 35 appearances last season after extending his contract in May.

While primarily operating as a centre-back, Odogu can also play at right-back. This versatility could prove valuable as he attempts to displace the established Danish defender in the starting eleven.

The loan agreement remains subject to finalisation, with the player awaiting clearance to complete the switch and begin training with his new teammates.
