Terem Moffi is scheduled to undergo a medical with Hamburg on Saturday as the 27-year-old Nigerian international edges closer to sealing a permanent exit from OGC Nice. The Bundesliga side have agreed a €2.5 million transfer package with the French club, and the centre-forward is poised to sign a three-year contract upon successfully completing his examinations.
The agreement represents a significant financial setback for Nice. The Ligue 1 outfit paid FC Lorient €22 million to acquire Moffi just three years ago, meaning they will recoup only a fraction of their initial investment in the striker.
Supporter Attack and Loan Spell
Moffi’s departure became inevitable following a violent confrontation with fans last November, when the forward was physically attacked by Nice supporters. The incident prompted the club to place both Moffi and teammate Jéremie Boga on sick leave, effectively ending their regular involvement with the first team squad.
The irreparable breakdown in relations made a summer transfer a priority for both player and club. Moffi subsequently spent the second half of the 2025-2026 campaign on loan at Portuguese giants FC Porto. Despite returning to Nice, where he remained under contract until the season’s conclusion, a permanent separation was always anticipated.
The move to Hamburg offers the Nigeria striker a fresh start in German football. Completion of the medical this weekend would clear the path for Moffi to formalise his three-year deal and integrate into the squad ahead of the new campaign.
