Fulham and Eintracht Frankfurt have both registered interest in Stade Rennais midfielder Djaoui Cissé, yet the France Under-21 international appears to favour a move elsewhere as he seeks to reignite his career.
The 22-year-old is poised to leave Rennes this summer after finding his first-team prospects increasingly limited at the Roazhon Park. Despite possessing a contract that runs until 2030, his departure looks assured following a campaign where competition for places restricted him to 24 Ligue 1 appearances, with just 12 of those coming from the start.
According to reports, Cissé’s preferred destination is RC Strasbourg Alsace, another Ligue 1 outfit, rather than accepting advances from the Premier League or Bundesliga. The midfielder, who has earned eight caps and scored four goals for France’s Under-21 side, believes a move to Strasbourg would best serve his development and guarantee the regular minutes he has struggled to secure in Brittany.
However, no agreement has been reached between the relevant parties at this stage. While Fulham and Frankfurt continue to monitor the situation closely, the player’s stance suggests any potential bid from the English or German clubs would need to overcome his reluctance to leave France.
