Napoli interest fades
Serie A side Napoli had previously been heavily linked with a move for the 28-year-old. The striker’s agent, who also represents Napoli head coach Massimiliano Allegri, was seen at the club’s pre-season training camp on several occasions during the summer. The agent publicly insisted that his presence in Italy was related only to meetings with Allegri, rather than negotiations regarding Jesus joining Napoli. Despite these connections, Barcelona have succeeded in securing the player’s signature ahead of their rivals.
Napoli continue their search for a new centre-forward before the transfer window closes. The club are eager to add depth to their attacking ranks specifically to reduce the burden on Rasmus Hojlund, who currently carries the primary goalscoring responsibility for the team.
