However, Lille goalkeeper Berke Özer delivered a man-of-the-match performance, making nine crucial saves to deny Toulouse’s attacking efforts.
Adding to Toulouse’s woes in that match, goalkeeper Guillaume Restes was forced off with an injury. His understudy, Mathys Niflore, made his debut but appeared nervy, spilling a block that led to Ayase Ueda’s decisive goal.
Goal-Scoring Challenge
A recurring issue for Toulouse appears to be their struggle to convert chances into goals. The club has sold its top scorer for the season in consecutive summers, with Yann Gboho and Zakaria Aboukhlal following Thijs Dallinga out the door.
