Bayern Munich forward Luis Díaz is determined to end his recent scoring drought, with head coach Vincent Kompany expressing full confidence in the Colombian international’s ability to rediscover his prolific form. Díaz has found the net just once in six appearances for Bayern Munich this season, a stark contrast to his impressive debut campaign.
Since joining Bayern from Liverpool in the summer of 2025, Díaz has registered 27 goals and 23 assists in 57 appearances. Last season alone, he was a standout performer, contributing 26 goals and 23 assists across 51 games. However, his current form includes a four-game barren run, prompting questions about his goal-scoring touch.
Díaz’s Commitment and Coach’s Backing
Despite the challenging start to the season, Díaz remains resolute. Speaking to Sky Germany, he underlined his unwavering desire and work ethic. “I will always give everything I have and do everything for the team, giving 101 percent on the pitch,” he stated, emphasising his dedication. He also expressed a clear conviction that his goal-scoring touch would soon return. “I’m looking for my best version and I’ll find it soon. I believe that goal will come in the next game.”
His coach, Vincent Kompany, echoed this sentiment, believing it is only a matter of time before Díaz gets back on the scoresheet. Kompany highlighted the forward’s performance in training, stating, “He’s scored an incredible number of goals in training.” This backing from the manager suggests that Díaz’s dip in match form is not a reflection of his overall ability or effort.
Hoping for a Breakthrough Against Union Berlin
The upcoming Bundesliga clash against 1. FC Union Berlin presents a significant opportunity for Díaz to break his scoring duck. The 29-year-old is particularly keen to score against Union, a team against whom he netted a memorable goal last season. His spectacular strike against them was recognised as the 2025 Goal of the Year in Germany.
Recalling that effort, Díaz described it as one of the best goals of his career, evoking memories of playing street football as a child. This positive association with Union Berlin could provide the psychological boost needed for him to rediscover his scoring touch and contribute significantly to Bayern Munich’s campaign as they prepare for the fixture.
