Inter Milan are the favourites to win the 2026/27 Serie A title, according to the latest forecast from the Opta Predictor. The supercomputer, which crunched numbers in collaboration with Corriere dello Sport, has also outlined the teams expected to finish in the top four and those likely to face relegation.
Despite the 2026/27 Serie A campaign being only five rounds in, with Inter, Roma, and Lazio currently locked at the top on 13 points, the long-term prediction places Inter firmly in contention for the Scudetto. The Nerazzurri are given a 45 per cent chance of winning the title, projected to accumulate at least 78 points.
Champions League Race Intensifies
Beyond Inter, the Opta Predictor sees Roma finishing second, with a 22 per cent chance of victory and an estimated 73 points. A notable prediction is Como, who are tipped to secure third place, an improvement on their fourth-place finish last season. Juventus is expected to claim the final Champions League qualification spot.
This forecast suggests a challenging season for some traditional powerhouses. AC Milan is predicted to finish fifth for the second consecutive season, followed by Lazio. Perhaps the biggest surprise is Napoli, who are projected to finish seventh, a position that would only secure them a spot in the Conference League. Atalanta, Cagliari, and Sassuolo are expected to round out the top ten.
Relegation Battle Looms Large
At the other end of the table, the Opta Predictor paints a grim picture for Venezia, Genoa, and Parma, who are all tipped for relegation. Venezia, in particular, faces an uphill battle, having lost all five of their opening games this season. The data gives them a significant 73.52 per cent chance of dropping out of Italy’s top flight.
Genoa and Parma are also considered to be in serious trouble, with the algorithm suggesting they will be battling Monza and Lecce for safety throughout the season. The early stages of the 2026/27 Serie A season have been dynamic, with no team maintaining a 100 per cent record and no 0-0 draws recorded across the first 50 encounters, setting the stage for what promises to be an unpredictable campaign.
