Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has addressed the club’s demanding fixture list, which sees them face seven games in three weeks, averaging a match every three days. Speaking ahead of their Bundesliga clash against FC Augsburg, Kompany expressed confidence in his squad’s ability to navigate the packed schedule.
The upcoming period includes a crucial cup game against 1. FC Magdeburg, which Kompany described as “like a final.” Despite the intensity, the Belgian manager indicated that significant rotation is unlikely for the immediate game against Augsburg. He suggested that managing player workload only becomes necessary when players are tired, a situation he believes is not currently the case for his squad.
“We’ve got the squad for it. We want to go into every match with 100 percent conviction. I’d rather play every three days than have a long break. The players want to play anyway,” Kompany stated, highlighting his team’s readiness for the challenge. He added that sensible decisions would be made for the team when workload management becomes essential.
Musiala Injury and Replacement Options
Adding to the immediate challenges, Bayern will be without key midfielder Jamal Musiala for the Augsburg encounter. Musiala is sidelined due to a thigh injury, making him the only current absentee for the Bavarian giants.
In his absence, Serge Gnabry is considered the most probable candidate to step into the starting line-up. Additionally, Ismael Saibari and Lennart Karl are available as alternative options to fill the void left by the 23-year-old’s injury. The team will need to adapt quickly as they embark on this intense run of fixtures, starting with the trip to Augsburg.
