Stade Brestois 29 manager Julien Lachuer has publicly expressed his support for striker Ludovic Ajorque to receive a call-up to the French national team. Lachuer’s comments follow Ajorque’s continued strong performances in Ligue 1, where he has established himself as a consistent goalscorer and provider.
Despite a career spanning over 200 appearances in France’s top flight, during which he has scored 71 goals and provided 32 assists, Ajorque has yet to earn a single call-up to Les Bleus. The 32-year-old forward has been a key figure for Brest this season, contributing four goals and two assists in nine league matches of the 2026-27 campaign.
Lachuer’s Endorsement
Speaking on Monday, Lachuer highlighted Ajorque’s qualities, stating that he believes the striker is one of France’s truly great players. The Brest manager emphasised Ajorque’s ability to improve the team, noting his understanding of the game and strong team spirit. Lachuer suggested that if national team manager Zinédine Zidane requires a player with a significant presence, someone capable of holding up the ball and bringing out the best in teammates, Ajorque would be a suitable option.
Ajorque’s National Team Ambitions
The French national team, currently managed by Zinédine Zidane, boasts a wealth of attacking talent, making competition for places intense. However, Ajorque’s consistent output and experience in Ligue 1 present a compelling case for consideration. His track record demonstrates a player who has consistently performed at a high level in one of Europe’s top leagues, making his lack of international caps a notable point of discussion.
As the 2026-27 season progresses, Ajorque will undoubtedly aim to continue his impressive form for Brest, hoping that his performances, coupled with his manager’s backing, might eventually catch the eye of the national team selectors.
