Juventus dropped vital points at home to relegated Hellas Verona on Sunday. The match ended in a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Stadium. This result leaves the Bianconeri frustrated in their chase for a top-three finish.
The Old Lady had a perfect chance to climb the table. Their rivals AC Milan, Napoli and Como all lost points this weekend. A victory would have put Juventus level with Milan in third place. However, they could only manage a draw against the bottom side.
Verona took a shock lead in the first half. Gleison Bremer made a costly error while passing from the back. Domagoj Bradaric stole the ball and crossed from the left. Kieron Bowie swept the ball into the net with ease. This ended Juventus’ run of four straight clean sheets.
The hosts fought back after half-time. Manager Thiago Motta brought on Dusan Vlahovic. The Serbian striker replaced Khephren Thuram. Juventus changed to a 4-4-2 formation to attack more.
Vlahovic made the difference with a special moment. He curled a free-kick around the wall and into the bottom corner. This was his first goal of 2026. He had waited 180 days to score. It was also Juventus’ first direct free-kick goal in Serie A this season.
The Bianconeri pushed hard for a winner. Francisco Conceicao caused problems for the Verona defence. Lorenzo Montipò made two brilliant saves from the winger. The Verona keeper also denied Jeremie Boga and Edon Zhegrova.
Zhegrova nearly won it at the end. His shot hit the post and bounced off the keeper’s back. Somehow, the ball stayed out of the goal.
The draw means Juventus took only two points from Verona this season. Both matches finished 1-1. The Turin giants remain outside the Champions League places. They will regret this missed opportunity.
