1. FC Köln are planning to make defender Jahmai Simpson-Pusey a permanent member of their squad. The Bundesliga side currently have the 20-year-old on loan from Manchester City. They now want to keep him at the club full-time.
Top German newspapers report that the club holds an option to buy the centre-back. The fee could range from the mid single-digit millions to approximately €8 million. The young defender has featured in 10 games for the German outfit since his arrival in January.
Sources close to the player suggest he is keen on a full-time switch to the Bundesliga club. However, any permanent agreement would include a buy-back clause for Manchester City. This would allow the Premier League giants to bring him back if he impresses.
The Cologne-based club must balance their books first. They are looking to sell 19-year-old talent Said El Mala to raise the necessary funds. Several English clubs have targeted the young forward. The income from his departure would help pay for Simpson-Pusey.
