Kompany praised the strong bond between his players and the fans on Tuesday. He spoke to reporters before the big clash at the Allianz Arena.
“We have built a good relationship with our fans this season. Maybe at the beginning, not many people thought we would still be fighting for a place in the final,” he explained.
“We have shared many special moments together. I think the fans believe we can do it. We want to give them another night to remember.”
The former Manchester City defender also discussed his tactical approach. He is not concerned if his defence leaks goals, provided Bayern score more than their opponents.
“Our mission is to win the game. We have ideas that we think will help us achieve that. It is simply about winning,” he stated.
“Both teams have shown they can win matches. In the end, you must score one more goal than your opponent. If you can do that without conceding, that is perfect. But the main thing is victory.”
Kompany expects an open contest. He does not think either team will change their attacking style.
“It depends on how the teams approach the game. If one side decides to sit back and defend, the match might become quieter. Otherwise, it will be intense,” he added.
“It is hard to imagine either team changing what brought them here. We are playing at home. We want to win and we will do everything possible.”
Regarding team selection, Kompany confirmed that winger Serge Gnabry will miss the match. However, the rest of the squad is ready to play.
“Serge is out. All other players are available. This is important and very different from last season when we had many injuries,” he said.
