  • Sassuolo centre-back Tarik Muharemovic faces a busy summer transfer window.
  • Four major clubs want to sign him for around €40 million.
  • Juventus hold a 50 per cent sell-on clause after selling him last year.
  • Inter Milan are the current favourites to secure his signature.
  • Barcelona see him as a cheaper option compared to Alessandro Bastoni.

Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemovic has become one of the most wanted players in Europe. The 23-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international has impressed this season. He has played well for his club. He has also shone on the international stage. He helped his country knock Italy out of the World Cup play-offs.

Now, a transfer battle is heating up. Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Aston Villa all want to sign him. Experts expect Sassuolo to sell him this summer. The asking price stands at €40 million.

Juventus have a special advantage in this race. They originally signed Muharemovic from Wolfsberger in Austria in 2021. They placed him in their youth academy. He worked his way up through their Next Gen team. In 2024, he moved to Sassuolo on loan. Last summer, Sassuolo bought him permanently for just €2 million. However, Juventus kept a smart clause. They retained 50 per cent of any future transfer fee.

This clause gives Juventus a huge benefit. If they bring him back to Turin, they pay only half the price. That means €20 million instead of €40 million. He would also count as an academy player for their squad rules.

Inter Milan are the current favourites to win this race. However, Muharemovic’s future links to Alessandro Bastoni. Bastoni plays for Inter, but he might leave the club. Barcelona want Bastoni. However, the Italian would cost at least €65 million. Therefore, Barcelona see Muharemovic as a cheaper alternative. This makes the transfer situation very complex.
