Real Madrid’s season ended in disappointment after they lost to Barcelona in El Clasico. This defeat confirmed that Los Blancos would not win the La Liga title this year. The result has increased pressure on the club to make major changes.

President Florentino Perez is planning a shake-up at the Bernabeu. Alvaro Arbeloa is unlikely to continue as head coach. Reports in Spain suggest Perez wants Jose Mourinho to take charge. He views the former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss as the ideal solution.

Mourinho has refused to confirm direct contact with the club. However, his agent Jorge Mendes may be negotiating with Real Madrid officials. According to Spanish newspaper Diario AS, Mourinho has presented two key demands.

Firstly, he wants a strong say in which positions the club strengthens during the transfer window. Secondly, he requires complete authority to discipline players without interference from above. Mourinho also insists he will report only to Perez, bypassing other club executives.

The club may now sell several players who underperformed this season. Perez has previously been cautious in the transfer market, signing only one or two young stars each year. However, this poor campaign could force a more aggressive approach to rebuilding the squad.
