FC Barcelona have secured their 29th La Liga crown under the guidance of German tactician Hansi Flick. The former Bayern Munich manager led the Catalan giants to domestic glory just months after taking charge at the club.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, a prominent figure at Bayern Munich, has publicly congratulated his old colleague. Speaking to German newspaper BILD, he expressed genuine delight at Flick’s achievement with the Spanish side.
“I am pleased he achieved this because he fully deserves this success,” Rummenigge stated. He praised Flick’s unique talent for connecting with his squad and creating strong bonds within the dressing room.
The Bayern director recalled the memorable 2020 Champions League tournament in Lisbon. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Flick guided Bayern to European glory. Rummenigge described the team spirit that year as extraordinary and unlike anything he had witnessed before.
“The players would do anything for their coach. This unity was remarkable,” he explained. He compared Flick’s leadership style to that of current Bayern manager Vincent Kompany.
Flick joined Bayern in November 2019 after Niko Kovač left the club. During his 18 months in Munich, he won the Bundesliga twice, the DFB-Pokal, and the Champions League. He departed Bavaria in the spring of 2021 despite his impressive record.
Now at Barcelona, Flick has quickly added a Spanish league title to his collection of honours. His success continues to earn respect from his former employers in Germany.
