Borussia Dortmund have set their sights on Mio Backhaus. The Bundesliga club view the Werder Bremen goalkeeper as a future replacement for their current number one, Gregor Kobel.

Reports from Germany suggest that officials at Signal Iduna Park have made enquiries about the 22-year-old. Backhaus has impressed between the sticks for the Green-Whites this season.

However, Dortmund face stiff competition for his signature. Newcastle United have already held talks with the player’s camp. The Premier League side want to strengthen their goalkeeping options.

Other major clubs are also watching the situation closely. AC Milan, Inter Milan, Brighton & Hove Albion, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and SC Freiburg have all been linked with the young keeper.
