Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta says the club will grow slowly rather than make big changes next season. The Italian giants celebrated winning two major trophies this campaign.

The Nerazzurri beat Lazio 2-0 in the Coppa Italia final on Sunday evening. This marked their tenth victory in this competition. Only Juventus have won this tournament more times in history.

The triumph completed a memorable Double. The squad also lifted the Serie A title earlier this month. This is their first Double since Jose Mourinho led them to a historic Treble in 2010.

Last season brought no silverware for the Milanese side. Former coach Simone Inzaghi departed during the summer. The board appointed Cristian Chivu as his replacement. The Romanian manager had only a brief spell at Parma on his senior coaching record.

“We have players on the pitch and staff working behind the scenes,” Marotta told Sport Mediaset. “I thank every person who works for this club. Football is a team sport. Everybody played their part.”

The president praised the club’s ownership structure. He stated this model helps drive success. The previous campaign left some scars after a trophyless finish. However, Chivu successfully steered the team back to winning ways.

Inter suffered European disappointment this term. Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt knocked them out of the Champions League play-offs in February. This early exit allowed the squad to focus fully on domestic competitions.

Marotta remains positive about future transfers. New players will arrive at the San Siro. The approach will maintain current foundations.

“I am optimistic but I respect our rivals,” he explained. “We believe in evolution, not revolution. Young talents like Petar Sucic need time to settle and develop properly.”

The director plans to combine emerging stars with experienced professionals. These senior players already possess a winning mentality. Major changes are unnecessary.

Some familiar faces will depart naturally. Francesco Acerbi, Stefan de Vrij, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Yann Sommer and Matteo Darmian all see their contracts expire shortly. The club cannot prevent this aging process.

“We will introduce young players gradually,” Marotta concluded. “There is no need for a complete revolution.”
