Polish striker Robert Lewandowski appears ready to end his time at FC Barcelona. The 37-year-old forward joined the Catalan club four years ago. Now his contract is finishing at the end of this season.

Barcelona offered him a new one-year deal. However, this proposal included a large pay cut. It also meant he would become the second-choice striker. Lewandowski has not agreed to these terms. He has stayed quiet about his future plans in recent weeks.

The timing suggests an announcement is coming soon. Barcelona play their last home game of the season this Sunday. They face Real Betis at the Camp Nou. This match gives Lewandowski a chance to say goodbye to the fans. Polish journalist Tomas Wlodarczyk told Sport that the player is “very close” to confirming his exit.

Other reporters agree with this story. Transfer expert Matteo Moretto also says Lewandowski is nearing a departure. This news comes as Barcelona secure their manager. Hansi Flick will sign a new contract until 2028 on Monday.

Several clubs want to sign the experienced goalscorer. Portuguese side FC Porto ruled themselves out this week. Their president Andre Villas Boas told Fabrizio Romano that signing Lewandowski was “financially impossible”.

The strongest offers come from outside Europe. Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal can pay him €30 million per year. The contract would last for three years. Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer also want him. They would pay around half of the Saudi offer.

Italian clubs AC Milan and Juventus have asked about him too. But these moves look less likely at the moment.

Lewandowski arrived at Barcelona as the star signing of Joan Laporta’s second term as president. He leaves with three La Liga titles to his name. His time at the club looks set to finish after the weekend clash with Real Betis.
