- Chelsea and Atletico Madrid targets proved too expensive for the Catalan club
- Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa also hold interest in the 27-year-old
Barcelona face a difficult task finding a new centre-forward this summer. Robert Lewandowski will leave the club, and the Catalan giants need a replacement. However, their top choices cost too much money.
Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez was their first choice. The Spanish club cannot afford his price tag. Chelsea’s Joao Pedro was another option, but the London club want over €100 million for the Brazilian.
Now Barcelona look at Omar Marmoush. Manchester City bought the Egyptian for €75 million 18 months ago. Now they will sell him for €60-65 million. This lower price appeals to Barcelona.
Marmoush has not played well at City. He scored only 16 goals in 59 games. He also gave six assists. The 27-year-old wants more time on the pitch. He does not force a move, but he will listen to good offers.
Other Premier League clubs want him too. Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa checked his situation before. Marmoush can play in different positions and links well with midfielders. However, he is not a strong physical striker like Lewandowski. Coach Hansi Flick may prefer a different type of player.
The forward still has three years on his contract. City hope to recover most of their money despite his poor goal record.
