Junior Starlets head coach Mildred Cheche has announced her final travelling party for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifying double-header against Uganda. The team will face their East African neighbours in a tense two-legged tie later this month.
The first match kicks off on Friday, 22 May 2026 at the FUFA Stadium in Uganda. The return fixture follows on Saturday, 30 May 2026 at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi. The aggregate winner will advance to the final round of qualification.
Cheche has retained most of the players who defeated Namibia in the previous round. However, she has made three strategic changes to address injury concerns.
Defenders Rose Nangila and Lindey Weey are unavailable. Nangila recently underwent surgery, whilst Weey requires two weeks to recover from a fresh injury.
New faces Daisy Adongo and Grace Wangari join the squad. Adongo will bolster the defence, and Wangari offers attacking options from midfield. Noelina Akuku also receives a call-up. The versatile player can operate in both defensive and offensive midfield roles.
The squad departs for Kampala on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. They will return on 23 May after the first leg. The Junior Starlets aim to secure their first-ever appearance at the World Cup finals.
