Arsenal Football Club have won the Premier League title for the first time in 22 years. The North London side secured the trophy after their rivals Manchester City could only manage a draw against Bournemouth.

The Gunners were confirmed as champions on Tuesday night when the final whistle blew on the south coast. This sparked wild parties across North London and at the club’s training ground.

Eberechi Eze shared photos on Instagram at five o’clock in the morning. He stood outside Emirates Stadium with team-mates Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber. Supporters had gathered outside the ground and in local pubs to watch City’s match.

When the result became clear, cheers erupted across the area. Arsenal’s squad were together at their training centre. They danced and hugged while singing “Campeones, Campeones, Ole Ole Ole!”

Declan Rice had said “it’s not done” last month after a defeat to City. On Wednesday morning, he posted a photo with the words “It’s done.” This victory comes in Mikel Arteta’s seventh year as manager.

Former goalkeeper Paul Robinson praised the club for giving Arteta time. He said good managers need time to build winning teams, not just money.

The last time Arsenal won the league was in 2004. They went unbeaten that season and were called ‘The Invincibles’. One fan told the BBC he had married, had a teenage child, and divorced since that last title.

Another supporter said he would finally drink a special beer from 2021 that he had saved for this moment. Now Arsenal fans hope for a double. The team will face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final on 30 May.

British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, who supports Arsenal, wrote on social media: “22 long years for the Arsenal. But finally, we’re back where we belong. Champions!”

London Mayor Sadiq Khan congratulated the club. Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton also posted a message saying “Come On You Gunners.” Even City boss Pep Guardiola offered his congratulations to Arteta and the Arsenal players.
