- Kone’s selection for the France World Cup squad could drive his price higher if he performs well in the tournament
Inter Milan have reopened negotiations with AS Roma regarding a potential swap agreement for midfielder Manu Koné. The Serie A champions are eager to secure the services of the French international at the San Siro. They are prepared to include Davide Frattesi in the deal as a makeweight.
This is not the first occasion the Nerazzurri have attempted to sign the 22-year-old. They made concrete offers during the previous summer transfer window and again in January. On both occasions, the Giallorossi turned down their advances.
Roma purchased Kone from Borussia Monchengladbach last year for €18 million plus bonuses. His market value has since more than doubled to around €50 million. This sharp increase reflects his consistent performances in the Italian top flight.
Inter currently value Frattesi at between €20 million and €25 million. This valuation gap means the Milan club would need to provide a considerable sum of money on top of the player exchange. Reaching an agreement on the additional fee remains the primary obstacle.
The situation is complicated further by Kone’s inclusion in Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the upcoming World Cup. A strong showing on the global stage could inflate his asking price even more. This puts pressure on Inter to conclude terms quickly before the tournament begins.
Discussions between the two clubs are ongoing. Supporters will monitor developments closely to see whether this long-rumoured exchange finally materialises.
