German second-tier side Karlsruher SC have named Maximilian Senft as their new head coach. The 36-year-old joins from Austrian club SV Ried.

Senft began working with the Austrian team in 2022. He started with their reserve squad before earning his UEFA Pro License. The Vienna-born coach later moved to the first team in March 2023.

During his time at the club, Senft guided SV Ried to the league title. This victory secured promotion to the Austrian Bundesliga for the 2024-25 campaign. The team is currently competing against Rapid Wien in a playoff for a place in the Conference League.

Sporting director Mario Eggimann explained the club’s choice. He stated that they created a clear plan when searching for a new manager. They wanted someone who matched their football philosophy.

“Maximilian Senft is the perfect fit for our club,” Eggimann said. “He uses modern training techniques. He develops players clearly. His teams play proactive, attacking football.”

Eggimann also praised Senft’s ability to build long-term success. He noted that the coach did not just win quick promotion. He also kept the club stable in the top division.

The appointment signals Karlsruher SC’s intent to play progressive football next season.
