- There are reports of serious tension between Spalletti and sporting director Damien Comolli.
Italian newspaper La Stampa claims that Luciano Spalletti is ready to step down as Juventus manager if the team does not finish inside the top four. This would mean missing out on next season’s Champions League.
The 66-year-old only joined the club on 30 October 2025. Despite signing a fresh contract until June 2028 just weeks ago, he is reportedly willing to walk away from his post.
The situation has become difficult following a 2-0 defeat against Fiorentina. This result has dropped Juventus down to fifth place, level on points with Como.
On the final weekend of the Serie A season, Juventus must defeat local rivals Torino in the derby. They also need either AS Roma or AC Milan to drop points in their respective matches. Only then can the Bianconeri return to the top four.
Behind the scenes, relations between Spalletti and director Damien Comolli are said to be strained. Club owner John Elkann may soon face a choice between backing his coach or his sporting director.
According to the report, Spalletti will offer his resignation if he cannot deliver Champions League football. However, the club might refuse to accept it. Instead, they could offer the coach greater control over team matters to convince him to remain.
