Toulouse FC have announced their first summer recruit. The club confirmed on Friday that defender Ismaïl Diallo has signed from Dijon FCO.
The 22-year-old is the first arrival under new manager Jens Berthel Askou. The Norwegian recently took charge at the club, replacing Carles Martínez Novell.
Diallo spent just one campaign with Dijon. He joined the Burgundy club at the start of last term and played a key role in their promotion push. The full-back made 24 appearances, scoring three goals and creating four assists, as Dijon won the National title and earned a place in Ligue 2.
Before his time at Dijon, the Frenchman played for Paris FC, ES Nanterre and Paris 13 Atletico.
Now Diallo will step up to Ligue 1. The defender, who was born in Champigny-sur-Marne, chose Toulouse over offers from abroad. Sporting director Viktor Bezhani praised the youngster’s flexibility. He noted that Diallo can play in several positions, uses both feet well, and brings physical strength to the pitch.
