Sources in Italy report that both clubs have contacted the Dutch international’s representatives to confirm their interest ahead of the summer window.
The 28-year-old defender has attracted attention from across Europe following his displays for the Netherlands national team. However, Barcelona face financial restrictions. The Catalan club will only pursue the deal if they sell French centre-back Jules Koundé for at least €60 million.
Dumfries has a release clause set at €25 million that activates in July. This affordable price could spark a bidding war, particularly if the player produces strong performances at the World Cup. Several other top European clubs are also monitoring the situation.
Despite facing fitness problems this season, the right-back has managed five goals and two assists in 28 appearances across all competitions. His ability to support attacks makes him an attractive target for managers seeking dynamic full-backs.
