The 2025-26 Serie A campaign has drawn to a close with Inter Milan crowned champions for the 21st time. The Nerazzurri secured the Scudetto several weeks before the final weekend, finishing the season as comfortable leaders.
Sunday’s final fixtures produced dramatic results that shaped the European qualification places. AC Milan suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at the San Siro against Cagliari, a result which saw the Rossoneri drop out of the Champions League positions.
Inter Milan had already confirmed their status as champions prior to the last round of matches. SSC Napoli also secured their place in Europe’s premier club competition before the final day.
Following AC Milan’s slip-up, Como achieved a remarkable qualification for the Champions League. The Lombardy side thrashed local rivals US Cremonese 4-1 in an away fixture to seal their spot. AS Roma also booked their place in the Champions League with a solid 2-0 victory against Hellas Verona at the Stadio Bentegodi.
The clash between Torino and Juventus started one hour behind schedule after clashes between rival supporter groups. Regardless of this result, Juventus will compete in the Europa League next term alongside AC Milan.
Three clubs will compete in Serie B next season. Pisa, Hellas Verona and US Cremonese – where former Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy plays – have all been relegated.
The new Serie A season is scheduled to begin on the weekend of 23 August 2026. The fixture list will be published on 5 June 2026.
