Spanish giants Barcelona continue to search for fresh talent in South America. The Catalan club have set their sights on Gabriel Veneno, a teenage forward who currently trains with Clube Atlético Mineiro in Brazil.
The 16-year-old has impressed scouts despite never playing for his club’s first team. He operates mainly on the right wing. Many observers say his skills remind them of Neymar Junior, the former Santos and Barcelona star.
Barcelona previously missed out on signing Rayan Vitor. The young Brazilian joined AFC Bournemouth in England earlier this year. Now, the Spanish side hope to sign Veneno instead.
However, several difficulties exist. Atletico Mineiro want €20 million for the teenager. Barcelona think this price is too high for someone with no senior experience. The player must also wait until July 2027 to complete any move, as FIFA rules ban international transfers before a player turns 18.
Barcelona remain keen on Brazilian talent despite previous struggles. The costly arrival of Vitor Roque last year did not stop their search for young stars. Yet money troubles mean they must think carefully before paying €20m for a player who cannot help the team immediately. Because of this, the transfer may not sit high on their summer shopping list.
