- €11 million yearly salary demands create major hurdle for Juventus after Champions League miss
- Bayern Munich prepared to subsidise wages to help facilitate departure
Goalkeeper Alexander Nübel will return to FC Bayern Munich this summer following a three-year loan spell at VfB Stuttgart. However, the Germany international will not remain with the Bundesliga champions. Club directors Max Eberl and Christoph Freund have stated clearly that the 29-year-old has no future at the club and they intend to sell him before the new season starts.
German publication Sport Bild reports that Manchester City and Juventus FC are both keen to sign the shot-stopper. Bayern Munich value their player at between €10 million and €15 million. Representatives from both clubs have already contacted Nübel’s agents to discuss the potential move.
Financial obstacles could complicate any transfer. Nübel currently earns approximately €11 million per year. This wage level proves problematic for Juventus, who missed out on Champions League qualification. The Italian club cannot afford such high salaries without income from Europe’s top competition.
To overcome this issue, Bayern Munich may agree to cover part of the goalkeeper’s wages. This subsidy would help push the deal through. Both Manchester City and Juventus continue negotiations as they look to secure the player’s signature.
