VfL Wolfsburg have started a major squad shake-up following their drop from the German top flight. The club has announced that six first-team players will leave this summer.

Four footballers are returning to their parent clubs after loan spells. Jeanuel Belocian goes back to Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Adam Daghim returns to FC Red Bull Salzburg in Austria. Jenson Seelt will report to AFC Sunderland in England. Jesper Lindstrøm heads back to SSC Napoli in Italy.

Two other players are leaving as free agents. Jonas Wind and Kevin Paredes will depart when their contracts end in June. Wind, a Danish striker, scored 35 goals in 124 matches for the club. Paredes, a United States international, netted four times in 65 appearances.

The clear-out comes after Wolfsburg finished in the relegation places of the Bundesliga this season. The club now prepares for life in the second tier of German football.
