Stade Brestois face losing their manager Eric Roy just weeks after he guided the club to an unlikely place in the UEFA Champions League. The French coach looks prepared to exit the Breton side following the confirmed departure of sporting director Grégory Lorenzi.

Lorenzi spent a decade with Les Ty-Zéfs. The club has confirmed he will leave his post. The Corsican official plans to move to Olympique de Marseille. However, a previous agreement with OGC Nice currently blocks that transfer.

Questions now surround Roy’s position. The manager refused to confirm his plans when journalists asked him on the final day of the Ligue 1 season. He told reporters that he did not know if he would remain. Roy stated that his contract requires him to stay, but he noted that unexpected events can occur in football.

The boss has openly criticised the lack of financial backing at the club in recent months. He made clear that he needs strong signals from the owners to continue his project. According to journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter, those guarantees have not arrived. This leaves Roy ready to depart the club he led to European football.
