Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has finally broken his silence regarding his clash with teammate Federico Valverde at the club’s Valdebebas training complex. The French international has strongly denied reports that he struck the Uruguayan during the confrontation, which left Valverde requiring stitches for a head wound.
The incident occurred during a training session and resulted in both players receiving hefty fines of €500,000 from the club for misconduct. Tchouameni explained that media outlets exaggerated the situation because of Real Madrid’s global profile. He admitted that tensions arose but rejected claims that he punched his colleague.
Valverde had earlier addressed the matter upon joining his national team camp ahead of the World Cup. The 27-year-old described the episode as a valuable lesson that would help him grow and mature as a person. He chose not to share specific details but confirmed he had moved past the disagreement.
The Spanish giants appeared more upset about the story reaching the public than the actual altercation. Former manager Alvaro Arbeloa stated that the leak caused the real damage, while President Florentino Perez promised to dismiss whoever revealed the information.
