Aurelio De Laurentiis has telephoned AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni. The Napoli owner seeks clarity on Massimiliano Allegri’s contractual situation. This follows reports from Italian outlet Il Mattino via TMW.

Allegri lost his job as Milan boss at the end of the campaign. The club dismissed him after they failed to reach the Champions League. However, his contract runs until 2027. The Rossoneri must still pay his wages unless they agree a settlement.

The Tuscan coach has struck a deal to take charge at Napoli. He would sign a two-year contract worth €4.5 million each season. But there is a problem. Allegri insists Milan must pay him compensation before he leaves. The San Siro side do not want to grant this request.

De Laurentiis now seeks updates directly from the Milan hierarchy. He hopes to break the deadlock. Napoli want to install Allegri at the Stadio Maradona quickly. The standoff continues while both parties refuse to move.
