Denmark’s friendly match against Ukraine in Odense stopped early on Sunday night. The game ended after midfielder Christian Eriksen fell to the ground in the second half.

The incident happened while Denmark was winning 2-1. Eriksen, who plays for VfL Wolfsburg, suddenly fell to the pitch. The stadium went quiet as players and fans watched in shock.

However, the 34-year-old player soon woke up. He stood up and walked off the pitch by himself. Medical staff then took him to hospital for more tests.

Denmark’s team doctor, Morten Boesen, later gave good news. He said Eriksen is stable and the pacemaker in his heart worked properly. “Christian is doing well. He walked off alone. The device reacted as it should,” Boesen stated.

Eriksen lost consciousness for a short time but woke up quickly. Boesen added that the player spoke with him and sent messages to his teammates to say he was fine.

This is not the first time Eriksen has had this problem. He had a similar incident at Euro 2021 against Finland. Doctors later fitted a heart-regulating device in his body.

Because everyone at the stadium was very upset by what happened, officials decided to stop the match immediately.
