Paris Saint-Germain are poised to strengthen their goalkeeping ranks by signing 18-year-old Italy U19 international Alessandro Longoni from Milan on a free transfer this summer.
The deal represents another addition to the French club’s collection of promising young shot-stoppers. Longoni will arrive at the Parc des Princes when his current Milan contract expires, with expectations of joining Luis Enrique’s first-team group rather than the youth academy.
Frustration drives San Siro exit
Longoni spent the recent campaign with Milan Futuro, the club’s reserve side, but grew dissatisfied with his development pathway. According to Calciomercato.com, the young goalkeeper was overlooked for first-team training opportunities in favour of fellow 18-year-old Matteo Pittarella despite having recently featured for Italy’s U17 European Championship-winning side.
The goalkeeper was part of the Italy U17 squad that secured the continental title earlier this month, underlining his potential at international level. Reports suggest that discussions over a contract extension with the Rossoneri stalled due to dissatisfaction with the salary offer presented. These factors have prompted Longoni to seek opportunities elsewhere rather than renew his deal.
Parc des Princes pedigree
PSG have established a notable connection with Italian goalkeepers in recent years. Gianluigi Donnarumma also moved to Paris from Milan without a transfer fee, while legendary shot-stopper Gianluigi Buffon previously enjoyed a spell in the French capital. The club currently holds the registration of 19-year-old Italian prospect Renato Marin, though he could depart on loan for the 2025-26 season.
Longoni’s arrival would add further depth to Luis Enrique’s options as PSG continue to blend experienced internationals with emerging talent. The move is expected to be finalised when the transfer window opens and his Milan deal formally concludes.
