Paulo Dybala is expected to sign a new contract with Roma at the beginning of next week, although the Argentina international remains hesitant about the terms on offer, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Talks over the forward’s future at the Stadio Olimpico have intensified in recent days. While the proposed deal would extend his stay until June 2027, it requires the 30-year-old to accept a substantial pay cut. This reduction has given Dybala pause, though the club has attempted to soften the terms by including an option to extend for an additional season until 2028.
Despite his reservations, the Argentine is eager to continue in Rome. Family considerations are understood to be a significant factor in his willingness to accept the reduced salary, effectively prioritising stability and personal circumstances over improved financial terms.
Boca Interest Rejected
The uncertainty surrounding Dybala’s future has attracted interest from his homeland, where Boca Juniors have registered a desire to secure his return to Argentine football. That prospect has been firmly set aside, however. Journalist Matteo Moretto reported earlier this week that Dybala has already informed Boca that he will continue with Roma for at least one more season.
Finalising the Agreement
While the broad framework is in place, the parties have yet to fix final details, including specific bonus structures. Dybala is currently away from the club and is due to return to Rome in five days. The Giallorossi hope that the contract will be signed before his arrival, with his agent, lawyers and club directors expected to complete talks in the coming days.
The resolution would secure the playmaker’s immediate future and end speculation linking him with a departure from the Stadio Olimpico, despite the financial compromise required.
